Intro - Catherine H.
1) Your Name- Catherine
2) Your children's ages and names (if you feel comfortable) - Brian-14 1/2 and Matthew-8
3) How many years you have homeschooled - This is our 10th year.
4) What you love about homeschooling - I love having the children with me, I especially enjoy it when my husband can be with us. I also enjoy learning new things with the boys.
5) What you hate about homeschooling
- Well, it's really more of a parenting issue. Those days when a child constantly tests the limits and challanges you. Because we homeschool and always have the children there, sometimes it seems those difficult days (or months;-)) will never end.
6) Do you have a business or interest you delve in on the side? - Yes, I work one to three days a week in the Emergency Room at East Ridge Hospital. I work my schedule around Tim's work days so one of us can always be home with the boys.
7) Your pet's name or most interesting animal you have ever owned? - We have one dog, Sam. Matthew got an aquarium for his birthday last month. He has 18 adult tropical fish and two baby Mollies born Friday AM. This week he wants to add 2 catfish and an algie eater. It's been a great science unit study-he's even learned to check and adjust the PH of the water. Both boys have enjoyed watching for the baby Mollies to be born.
8) Your favorite color - Pink
9) How would you describe your homeschool style? - Very relaxed in the early years, pretty traditional by high school.
10) Schedules - thumbs up or thumbs down? - We have a very flexable schedule.

I love the freedom and rewards homeschooling has to offer

My favorite color is purple
Teaching style is mainly traditional
We try to maintain a set schedule, but I don't "sweat it" if we get off the beaten path every once in a while.
Intro - Sheila J.
Name: Sheila
Children - Brian is 10 years old and his favorite color is green. Lilly is 8 years old and her favorite color is pink. Heidi is 7 years old and her favorite colors are pink and purple. Audrey is 4 years old and her favorite color is yellow. Aaron just turned 1 August 31. Miles is 20 and attends Chattanooga State and Joshua is 17 and is a student at Collegedale Academy.
Homeschooling has been a gradual process. I would say we started at birth 10 years ago. But we worked with Miles and Joshua at home even before that.
Love about homeschooling - I love being with my children and learning with them. I love the close family we have and the real socialization process. They interact with all types of people. Being able to take vacations at non peak times. We like shopping for great books and going to the library.
Hate about homeschooling - NOT ENOUGH TIME! Distractions and clutter. Both the Grandmothers and two Aunts are shop aholics, Grandpa is an auction addict, and Daddy is a packrat. I declutter our home and send stuff to the Samaratin Center and missions. If I am not decluttering or teaching or cleaning (which is never)I would love to work on our family albums, photography, cross stitch, crafts, cook, read, hike and be outdoors.
Pets - Our dogs name is Paddle. We would like to have chickens and Nubian goats. The children want a cat and a puppy and a hamster.
Color - I like all colors. Our home is decorated mainly in blue with lots of flower colors. Red is my favorite color to wear.
Homeschool style - Our homeschool style is a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Schedules - I would really like to be on a schedule but nothing has worked for us.
