ECOART
Want your child to learn how to be earth friendly without  "giving gifts back to the earth" or being encouraged to worship the creation instead of the Creator? Here is an art class that encourages children to work with creation and  praise an awesome Creator.

COLONIAL AMERICA UNIT STUDY
We will start at the end of the Renaissance time period and touch briefly on Explorers and then onto The First Settlements. This will probably be a year long study broken into different sessions throughout the year. I will be using a combination of Evan-Moor History Pockets, KONOS, "The Light and the Glory", lots of hands-on learning, "The Mayflower Adventure Series" and probably will include a real life simulation of what life would be like in a primitive colony at some point and time. Below is more information about the curriculum:

SCIENCE UNIT STUDY - INSECT AND ARACHNIDS
The Science classes,  Open and Restricted, use the Considering God's Creation curriculum. Session One will be on Insects and Arachnids. In addition to the above curriculum, I will be using The World of Insects and Arachnids by Dinah Zike and Susan Simpson. Both of these books are geared around multi-levels. This means your elementary student and your 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student will enjoy these science classes.
To let you know some of the cool things we will be doing: (or at least I think they are cool and I know some of your kids will too) we will be making 12 insect models with classification boxes and 24 Lots of Science Books that your student will be able to keep and use as a reference tool in the future and research projects and insect hunting and experiments, and cooking and ..... well, you get the idea. It's going to be neat, as well as, challenging.
Breaking News - This is new information that only you guys know about so far - we will be going on a field trip to Chattanooga Nature Center end of August to get a tour/program of the butterflies in their different stages. In September, we will also be going to Southern Adventist University to see their insect collections and learn how to pin insects for our own collections.
* Call or email me to reserve a place in a class. There is a maximum of 10 students per class so slots will fill up fast. If you have any questions at all, please call or email.
