The Science classes, Open and Restricted,
use the Considering God's Creation curriculum. Session One will be
on Insects and Arachnids.
In addition to the above curriculum, I will
be using The World of Insects and Arachnids by Dinah Zike and Susan
Simpson. Both of these books are geared around multi-levels.
This means your elementary student and your 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
student will enjoy these science classes.
To let you know some of the cool
things we will be doing: (or at least I think they are cool and I
know some of your kids will too) we will be making 12 insect models
with classification boxes and 24 Lots of Science Books that your student
will be able to keep and use as a reference tool in the future and
research projects and insect hunting and experiments, and cooking
and ..... well, you get the idea. It's going to be neat, as well as,
challenging.
Field Trip - We will be going on a field trip to Chattanooga
Nature Center end of August to get a tour/program of the butterflies
in their different stages.
In Sept/Oct., we will also be going to
Southern Adventist University to see their insect collections and
learn how to pin insects for our own collections.
